Nalo Hopkinson, Jamaican science fiction author, describes her own writing as "You know how a thing and the shadow of that thing could be in almost the same place together? You know the way a shadow is a dark version of the real thing, the dub side?".
2562 is Davide Huisman’s shadow, where Dubstep and Techno coexist; “Unbalance” his second album released in October 2009 is deep but at the same time breezy and melodic. It's shade first comes to rest on a setting and then moves taking us through a more industrial sound to the fusion in ‘Flashbacks’, finally loosing itself with the hypnotic voice in ‘Lost’, proceeding far away, flowing.
Appreciated by artists like Kode9, Appleblim, Mala and veterans of sound such as Francois K, Pole, Shake Shakir and Laurent Garnier; Davide Huismans has shown us many sides of his character (you can also find him in ‘A Made Up Sound” and “Dogdaze”).
If you only want to see the clear picture, 2562 is not what your looking for, but if you want to discover what happens at sunset and why it’s a great part of the day then…
"The orange glory days slash tragedies of the ’74 and ’78 World Cups happened before I was born, so I’m gonna draw for a European Championship instead – ‘88 of course :-)
Being a sensitive kid, I thought the excitement about the final against Russia would be more than I could handle, so I decided to go cycling on my BMX instead. Useless of course: it was a beautiful summer day and football was everywhere, people in the neighbourhood had even taken their TV’s to the street to watch the match together. And that’s how I still got to see Ruud Gullit’s merciless header (1-0) live, sitting on my bike with some neighbours I didn’t know. I was a bit disappointed with their tame reaction and watched the second half at home with my dad after all – including Marco Van Basten’s unreal volley. It remains the most legendary goal I've ever seen."
